As we wrap up our 25th year at CareerXroads, we’re celebrating the delivery, care, and feeding of a healthy talent community. That means we’re celebrating YOU and your health as well.
So as a “thank you” to everyone who has been part of the journey – regardless of your current membership status – we’re giving away a FREE one-year subscription to Headspace to the first 25 people who respond here. So chime in and tell us what you do to keep your mind right, or care for the headspace of your team. Heck, we’d even like to hear what you’ve seen others do. (You can go here to read about, and listen in on, a members-only meeting on the topic that our leaders decided to open to the public!)
Headspace has one mission: to improve the health and happiness of the world. Founded in 2010, they now have millions of users in more than 190 companies who take advantage of the on-demand and short-burst mental wellness sessions. I have used them for years and highly recommend the easy-to-use and follow application.
Get it for yourself, or give it to one of your team members – I know that I speak for the entire CXR team when I tell you that we’re happy to help.
Sign me up! I need all of the mental wellness I can get. In all seriousness, I have been working from home for 14+ years and there is a significant impact to your mental state when you CANT work from a coffee shop, hotel space etc.
Thank you for spotlighting this issue and continuing to be concerned about our community!
It took me March to August to get used to “covid-life” (full time mom & full time employee in parallel not segmented!) but in August I started making purposeful me-time to exercise and it’s made a world of difference in how I feel and how I sleep too!!!
From a work perspective, we’ve increased our Learning & Development offerings both live and on-demand that’s been greatly received by employees. Our “Y @ Work” staff offered their live classes virtually. We did a campaign for our Reward & Recognition program to remind people to simply say thanks to each other to boost morale. Our Health Services team has been doing monthly posts on happiness, normalizing that it’s ok to seek help for depression, where/how to seek help for financial challenges covid could have presented to families, and even some EAP sessions on working in a “home school” environment. No one could solve our internet bandwidth being shared by 2-4 people video conferencing in parallel though — ha!!
I’ve not used Headspace, but I’d love to try something new in 2021 if I make the cut.
I forgot something else I wanted to share — the MyConnections group (subset of our Women’s Network) I co-lead meets monthly and we had a fun portion each meeting such as GEA Cribs (MTV style web cam home tours), Nailed It (baking or crafting gone wrong…!), what are you binge watching?, board game show & tell (adults only & family friendly categories), sharing fav life hacks, and this month we did a segment on who/where/why you give your time/talent/treasure. These were great ways to forget about work and covid and more importantly get to know more about each other as people not just as coworkers.
